Song of Songs

Music and sound design for a poetry film by Sylvie Riant
The project is based on the ‘Song of Solomon’, a poem from the Old Testament. The film lasts about 40 minutes and is a collage of scenes with different moods that accompany the text without illustrative intent. The sound is a mixture of voices, field recordings and electronically synthesised sound modulations.
The previous recording of the text passages by a female and a male off-speaker was creatively adapted to the intensity and dynamics of the visual language. Existing focal points were emphasised and deliberate counterpoints were created. The same applies to the other sound elements that give the film its aural shape.

Call Space Reply

Concept and composition for an upcoming art project
CALL SPACE REPLY is a sound project by Christian Mair aka ALTHING, dedicated to the exploration of expression and consciousness by organizing the energetic process of creative manifestation into three phases.
The process of the project reflects the dynamics of human and natural cycles and the constant search for harmony in the tension between expression and reality.
A selection of the composition sketches of the 12 so-called calls, in which the entire project is organised, can be heard.

The concept and composition were financially supported by the South Tyrolean Government, Department of German Culture.
Fragments
An improvised sound performance using samples, doublebass and a pedalboard
Recorded at Kunstforum Unterland, Neumarkt-Egna in October 2021 during the opening of the exhibition “Fragmente – Fliegen, Dosen, Krieg und imaginäre Gipfel | Frammenti – Mosche, lattine, Guerra e vette imaginarie” by Giancarlo Lamonaca
The performance and the sounds used were inspired by the individual works of art, also the approach to work in layers was part of the creation process
